Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner is a masterpiece that forever changed the vision and scope of an entire genre. This towering monument to immersive and expansive visual majesty is one the most beautiful poetic and metaphoric film that has been solidified itself as one of the greatest. Now, 30 years later, we finally have the sequel we’ve always dreamed about, in the middle of a resurgence of sorts for Scott. The neon inferno of light sounds and endless skyscrapers that elevated the originals visionary gallantry, have returned in kind for the sequel. The second trailer for Blade Runner 2049 dropped yesterday, and it is nothing short of breathtaking. While it seems this new iteration will have a more traditional approach as far as action is concerned, the visuals are still unmistakable, and the aesthetic and spirit still live on.

Following the trailer release, Warner Bros. and Alcon Entertainment also unleashed several new stills for the film, which showcase, in HD, how staggeringly vibrant this sequel is sure to be. Denis Villeneuve has done well to honor his predecessor, while developing a unique take on the story. Check out the new Blade Runner 2049 images below. Blade Runner scribe Hampton Fancher and American Gods co-creator/Logan co-writer Michael Green penned the screenplay. The film also stars Robin Wright, Barkhad Abdi, Dave Bautista, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Lennie James, Mackenzie Davis, and Jared Leto. Blade Runner 2049 opens in theaters on October 6th.
