This week in the box office was not one you could call stellar. With some low numbers and some smaller scale films, there weren’t any records being set. That said, it was still a surprising result. The favorite to take the box office crown going into the weekend had to be Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, even if only by hair, but out of nowhere, Boo! A Madea Halloween slips into first place, by a hair.

Here is the run-down for this weeks box office:

Title Weekend Total
1. Boo! A Madea Halloween $27,600,000 $27.6
2. Jack Reacher: Never Go Back $23,000,000 $23.0
3. Ouija: Origin of Evil $14,060,000 $14.1
4. The Accountant $14,025,000 $47.9
5. The Girl on the Train $7,270,000 $58.9
6. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children $6,000,000 $74.4
7. Keeping Up with the Joneses $5,600,000 $5.6
8. Kevin Hart: What Now? $4,110,000 $18.9
9. Storks $4,085,000 $64.7
10. Deepwater Horizon $3,625,000 $55.3

Congrats to Tyler Perry, who consistently proves that he can make money no matter what he puts on screen, as long as he’s in a dress. Ouija: Origin of Evil finishes 3rd, but with its shoestring budget, is actually the real winner of the weekend.  continues it’s lackluster performance, in spite of it being an incredibly fun action thriller, dropping 50% from last week with a low 2 week cumulative that is not provoking smiles from the studio. The rest of the weekend result is full of more sadness and broken dreams from films that probably should have made more money than they did. Come on people! I get it’s Halloween, but we as an audience have now made Madea a number one movie! For Shame!
