Hello Bro Nation! Welcome to our weekly segment where we give you the top 5 lists regarding movie related items for the no other reason than the fact that we think making lists is fun! Last week was Comic-Con and so we brought you the top 5 comic book related films. This week, in honor of Marvel’s Ant Man opening, Bro Know has decided to do a top 5 best Marvel Cinematic Universe films. This is all the films from Iron Man to Ant Man. So check out the top 5 best Marvel Cinematic Universe films!

5) Thor

The film that introduced us to the norse god and Asgard, Thor was our first look at an Avenger outside of earth. The introduction of two pivotal characters with Thor, and Marvel’s best villain to date, Loki. The first Thor film did well to introduce the mystical element to the MCU. Able to meld magic and science and bring a new point of view helping to build the universe towards the eventual Avengers, Thor is one of the best stand alone films in that it kept with the themes that Iron  Man set and gave an incredibly interesting family dynamic with Loki, Thor and Odin. While not the best film in the MCU Thor opened the door to allow for a lot of different possibilities and belongs on this list

4) Iron Man

iron man

The film that started it all! Iron Man was the entry that kicked off the cinematic universe. We were re introduced to Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark, and Favreau brought a relatively unknown comic-book character to the forefront. This is an incredibly fun film with tons of humor and a wise cracking lead that kicks ass too. Bring in Jeff Bridges as your villain and Gwyneth Paltrow as the love interest and you have yourself a successful comic-book franchise film to kick off a universe that will end up being the most profitable in cinematic history. There holds a special place in our hearts for being the originator of the MCU and so it’s a no brainer to put Iron Man on this list.

3) Guardians of The Galaxy

The movie that shocked everyone. Alot of pundits were saying that Marvel was getting too cocky when they announced Guardians of The Galaxy. The property that virtually no one had ever heard of and Marvel blew everyone out of the water. The Cosmic crew of misfits out to save a galaxy from a big blue tyrant, this film spawned some of the most memorable characters in the MCU so far. With Rocket Raccoon, Groot, and Starlord, Guardians was a wild space western epic that expanded the MCU cosmically. The film is one of the most epic and beautiful of the bunch and also helped spark the era of Chris Pratt with his first big franchise role. Guardians of the Galaxy is too much fun and definitely earned it’s spot on our list.

2) Avengers

The biggest superhero mashup in movie history is a no brainer. Most people would think that this would be number one, and it certainly is in the discussion but the Avengers falls in at number 2 on our list is because the film felt a bit rushed and the characters weren’t able to unfold as well as hoped. That being said this is still one of the greatest comic book films out there and one of the best Marvel has to offer. It gave us the first glimpse into the superhero team up and provided a lot of funny and entertaining moments and of course some of the best action we’ve seen. Bringing back Loki was a pretty good idea too.

1) Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

Sure to spark some debate, the number one Marvel Cinematic Universe film is Cap 2. This is easily the film with the most depth and strongest storyline. It was a politically driven spy thriller that finally brought Captain America to the 21st century with style. This film was also the linchpin that catalyzed the fall of SHIELD as we know it, creating a ripple effect throughout the universe that extended well into Age of Ultron. The argument could be made that this is actually the most important film in the grand universe Marvel has created. It’s where we finally see how the actions of one stand alone can truly extend its reach to all the properties that followed. Cap 2 is an epic movie. This is the film the re wrote the universe and gave Marvel a new look.

That’s all for this week’s Top 5 Friday! What do you guys out in Bro Nation think of the list? What were your favorite Marvel movies? Do you agree with our list? Drop a comment and let’s start a discussion.
