Coming off of the incredible Mad Max Fury Road, Charlize Theron has more than proven her worth as a badass. That said, is she read to get back into the world of high speed chases, and crazy stunts? Well Universal pictures is sure hoping that’s the case, because they are putting the full court press to recruit her as a villain in the next Fast and Furious movie! Deadline has reported that Universal has approached the Oscar winning actress for an unidentified villainous role in the Fast 8, but no official word out of Theron’s camp as to whether she has given an official answer.
So the ball is in her court now. She has worked with director F. Gary Gray before on The Italian Job, the problem is the Fast and Furious films aren’t exactly Shakespeare, so it’s unclear if that is the sort of content Theron would be interested in diving into. There is no final script for the film as of yet, but it is slated to go into production before the end of this year. Since there is not script in place there is still some time for them to format a juicy character to add some depth and layers to the otherwise action centric franchise that would appeal to an actress of Theron’s caliber. What we do know at this point is that Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris Bridges, and Dwayne Johnson are all set to return to the franchise. The goal of Furious 7 was to introduce Kurt Russell as the big bad for the 8th installment but with the sad and untimely death of Paul Walker, the script was changed and Russell appeared to be spun into an ally of the core group.
It will be curious to see if Theron will be joining the rest of the cast in the next installment, and more curious to see what sort of character they will construct for her if she does. One thing is a guarantee, she will certainly crush any role she is presented with and we will all be better off for it.
So what do you guys think of the possibility of Theron Joining Fast 8? Are you excited for the next installment of the Fast and Furious franchise? Drop a comment and let us know what you think.
