The Panel for The Force Awakens panel produced some great moments. The behind the scenes footage was just the tip of the iceberg. We got to see the cast and director field questions and talk all things Star wars, and it was incredible!
Take a look at some of the highlights and images from the panel!
JJ on the movie:
“Obviously, I think a lot of people out there know ‘Star Wars’ is very dependent on the people like the ones in this room.”
Abrams also advised that they actually already have a cut of the film competed! Lawrence Kasdan also touched on how he thought Abrams was the best possible choice for the director.
“Star Wars is something that is so deeply ingrained and so important to so many people. I’ve been a fan since I was a little kid. There’s nothing normal about working with Lawrence Kasdan. There’s nothing normal about making a movie with Kathleen Kennedy.”
Abrams then talked about how he had to make sure he didn’t let his fandom get in the way of creating a good story.
“We worked as hard as we possibly could, and I can’t wait to show you the movie.”
Oscar Isaac also got a chance to open up about his character Poe Dameron, and his motivation, and a little of his back story! He mentioned that Poe, as a boy, was watching the medal ceremony at the end of A New Hope and wanted to become a hero so badly that he can be a bit “reckless at times.”
Lucasfilm also described their casting decisions by saying that all of the characters were written without any particular race i mind so that the casting calls could be strictly about the actor and not about appearance.
We also learned that The First Order’s new base is referred to as Starkiller Base. We also learned that Domhnall Gleeson’s character is a man named General Hux and is the leader of Starkiller Base.
Daisy Ridley also commented on working with the big three of the old cast saying that they were warm and welcoming, making her feel apart of the universe.
Then it happened.. Harrison Ford stepped out on stage to grace the hall with his presence!!!
“My foot? I just walked here, I’m good.” “The company was the right company, the director was the right company.”
“It’s a development of theme. It’s a natural progression.”
