Star Wars: The Force Awakens has Awakened the sleeping box office Giant That is Star Wars. It hit everyone right in the feels, and as a result it has opened up the franchise to a whole new host of opportunities. Not the least of which is going to be the series of spinoff or Anthology films they are slated to release. One of the projects that has people the most excited has to be the young Han Solo film, which is set to be the next anthology movie after episode 8. The biggest question mark has been, who will be playing the young Han Solo. Well the answer appears to be not far off and Disney has now release their short list of actors that could be replacing Harrison Ford one of the roles that made him famous back in the late 70’s.
There has also been talk of the actor who is cast making a cameo in the next Star Wars movie Rogue One, set to release in December 2016. So it would be safe to assume that Disney is very close to locking in their man here, but who knows when they will fill the rest of us in on who the officially casting choice is.
Check out the shortlist of young stars vying for the coveted role of Han:
Miles Teller (Whiplash)
Dave Franco (Neighbors)
Logan Lerman (Fury)
Ansel Elgort (Fault in Our Stars)
Scott Eastwood (The Longest Ride)
Emory Cohen (Brooklyn)
Blake Jenner (Everybody Wants Some)
Jack Reynor (Transformers 5)
The list does not indicate, or shed any light on who the frontrunner may be, but there is something to be said that the casting decision has been narrowed from thousands of young actors to what we have now. There is no question that Ford has left enormous shoes to fill, which will pose a serious challenge for anyone who steps into the role. The hope is that whoever it is will find a way to make the character their own and not just do an impression of Ford, all while still keeping the core values and ideals of the character. A great challenge indeed.
So what do you guys think of the short list? Anyone here in particular you’d like to see get the part? Drop a comment and give us your thoughts.
