Vin Diesel loves him some social media. he man is constantly on their announcing all sorts of stuff regarding his upcoming projects. Well the good news for us, he is at it again talking about filming for Fast 8. Fast 8 is supposedly the start of “the last trilogy” in The Fast and The Furious franchise, and Diesel took to social media to announce to fans that they would be filming in New York. What he didn’t mention is that they are also filming in Iceland.
Iceland Review reported that the film was planning on shooting some large scale scenes, by the harbor and in a location known as “the cement fields.” The cement fields are where we are assuming that the crew are going to start lighting things on fire and blowing things up.In fact, its reported that the crew are attempting the largest explosion stunt ever performed in Iceland. So it would appear that new director F. Gary Gray is not going to be timid with his installment on the franchise, which will be a bit different than his last directorial effort with Straight Outta Compton.
Gary Gray also commented on the upcoming film by telling Collider the following:
“We’re really pushing to make sure the audience feels like it’s not more of the same. They feel like it’s fresh, they feel like the characters they’ve come to know and love are there, but this is gonna be different, and that’s probably the most I can give you right now. It’s kind of top secret.”
Filming in Iceland is set to happen in April and Fast 8 is set to release in April of 2017.
