So Comic-Con is coming up and sadly Marvel studios will not be present for the fun. That being said head of Marvel Kevin Feige was nice enough to drop some lovely little nuggets of knowledge regarding phase 3 of the Marvel cinematic universe. Feige was doing some press surrounding the release of Ant Man. For the most part it’s just some small insights that will allow us to debate a speculate amongst ourselves, but there were some solid details that he may not have wanted to let slip, but either way we are heavily grateful for it.
The first piece of news surround the sequel to the smash hit Guardians of The Galaxy. Feige was speaking with the famous Frosty from Collider, when he was asked about the shooting schedule he has this to say:
“We start shooting Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 in February-March 2016.”
Well alright then! Seems Feige just let the new title slip, by accident? Then of course James Gunn took to twitter and confirmed the news that Fiege let slip.

The title is pretty cool, nothing special or out of the ordinary but it seems to fit with the motif they were going for in the first installment. We still have a long way to go for the Vol. 2 to drop but little nuggets of news like this keep us excited while we wait.
Next Feige discusses the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok and the rumor that Kenneth Branagh is coming back to direct.
“Probably towards the end of the summer we would announce a filmmaker and a writer. May be the same person, I don’t know, may be two different people.”
“Not true. I don’t know where that came from.”
Unfortunate about Branagh, but the impending news about the announcement for a writer director is still pretty exciting.
At an Ant Man junket Feige spoke with Birth.Movies.Death Feige discussed the role that Black Panther will be playing in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War and the transfer of power from T’chaka to T’challa.
“It is a role that he is still in the beginning phases of taking on, it’s a mantle he is only beginning to take on because his father is older. The reason we introduced him in ‘Civil War’ is because we needed a third party. We needed fresh eyes who wasn’t embedded with the Avengers and who has a very different point of view than either Tony or Steve. We said, ‘We need somebody like Black Panther… why don’t we just use Black Panther?’ That’s how it went in the development process.”
Then Feige elaborated further
“Today, pre-‘Civil War,’ post-‘Ultron’ I think he and his father are saying, ‘A bunch of vibranium just got out of here and wreaked a lot of havoc. Maybe we can’t stay behind these borders anymore, maybe we have to stick our heads out and make at least an attempt to be a part of the rest of the world right now, while at the same time protecting our people.’ That’s sort of where we meet him in ‘Civil War.’”
The introductory plot line for Panther sounds awesome. It’s a smart way to bring in his character that makes sense especially given the storyline that unfolded from Ultron.
Birth.Death.Movies Also got a chance to speak to Feige about Spiderman! Really getting some solid insight into what kind of tone we can expect from the latest version of the web slinger.
“It’s the soap opera in high school, and those supporting characters, that are interesting. Just as we hadn’t seen a heist movie in a long time, or a shrinking movie in a long time, we haven’t seen a John Hughes movie in a long time. Not that we can make a John Hughes movie – only John Hughes could – but we’re inspired by him, and merging that with the superhero genre in a way we haven’t done before excites us.”
This news is fantastic to hear. Feige nails it with the fact that we haven’t had any John Hughes type films in a while (aside from the recently released Dope). Definitely good news to know that they’re going for that inspirational teenage feel. It will be a lot of fun to see Peter in high school and actually be of high school age instead of late twenties early thirties we’ve had.
All this news is a bit overwhelming coming all at once, but it’s all really cool. The Black panther news especially was pretty exciting. Civil War is definitely going to epic, but there is still some fear it will make the same unfortunate mistakes that Ultron did.
So what do you guys out in Bro Nation Think of all the news? Which piece of information surprised you the most? Drop a comment and let’s start a discussion.
