First Look! Creed
Recently Sylvester Stallone dropped the first image for the upcoming Rocky sequel Creed. The image features Stallone and co-star Michael B Jordan training in the ring. Words cannot describe how excited it is to see some set images for this film. When the news for a new Rocky installment initially dropped I was like a kid on Christmas morning. I love these movies, I grew up watching Stallone take numerous shots to the head without keeling over. Carl Weathers as Apollo was always a joy to watch, and I damn near cried when I first saw Rocky IV and (SPOILER ALERT) he died at the hands of Ivan Drago. Then came Rocky V and that douche Tommy Gunn. This movie just plain sucked and nearly ruined the whole franchise. Luckily Stallone was willing to get back in the ring one more time in Rocky Balboa, The redeemer to it’s awful predecessor. Now we get to see him saddled along with uber talented newcomer Michael B Jordan. Jordan made waves when he starred as Vince Howard on the critically acclaimed TV show Friday Night Lights, and really broke out with his role in 2014’s Fruitvale Station, garnering oscar buzz before unfortunately being passed over for a best actor nod. The image is nothing crazy, but just the idea that this film is finally coming to fruition is solace enough for me, and so with this movie, all news is good news! Below is the image, what do you guys think? you excited for the new Rocky film?
Adonis Johnson Creed (Michael B. Jordan) never knew his famous Grandfather, world heavyweight champion Apollo Creed, who died before he was born. Still, there’s no denying that boxing is in his blood, so Adonis heads to Philadelphia, the site of Apollo Creed’s legendary match with a tough upstart named Rocky Balboa. Once in the City of Brotherly Love, Adonis tracks Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) down and asks him to be his trainer. Despite his insistence that he is out of the fight game for good, Rocky sees in Adonis the strength and determination he had known in Apollo — the fierce rival who became his closest friend. Agreeing to take him on, Rocky trains the young fighter, even as the former champ is battling an opponent more deadly than any he faced in the ring. With Rocky in his corner, it isn’t long before Adonis gets his own shot at the title… but can he develop not only the drive, but also the heart of a true fighter, in time to get into the ring?
