It’s no secret the solo Flash movie has seen some dark days. A film that has seen a revolving door of directors and writers and a cinematic universe that is frighteningly reactionary. After shuffling through two directors and a still a vacancy exists, but at least we know who will be writing the thing. King Arthur writer, Joby Harold will be penning the re-write for DC speedster script.
Variety reported Harold will be doing a full page one re-write and Warner Bros will continue the search for a new director while hoping to take the film in a purportedly “new direction.” It’s up in the air as to whether this is a good sign or bad. This is the 3rd re-write this script has had, and without having seen King Arthur, there is little evidence that would reveal whether he has any discernible talent. The fact that Harold is penning a script based on an existing script from Rick Fumiyiwa who penned a script based on an existing script from Seth Grahame-Smith, is a bit alarming.
Ezra Miller weighed in on the ever changing climate of his Flash characters solo entry recently by saying:
“These are groups of people taking the development of projects extremely seriously, and the teams are changing all the time. There’s often a lot of flux in who the team of the production of a film is before that production starts, and in this case, you hear about it, because it’s a critical figure—the directors that have been coming on and leaving. For me, it’s sort of a tragic relay race, and we’ve had a couple really incredible people carry this baton, and their marks are left on that baton, and the work that they’ve given to the project will certainly be represented in whatever the final product comes to be.”
