Star Wars The Force Awakens is now officially the biggest film in North American history, and has delighted fans from here to China. With a whole slew of Star Wars films on the horizon, any news we can get surrounding the universe is good news. Recently we received just that straight from the source. Actress Gwendoline Christie, who played Captain Phasma in the film, was recently asked about her potential return to the series in future films on the red carpet at the SAG awards. In spite of her characters lack of screen time, and her flaws as a true villainous threat, Phasma was still a featured, an loved character from the film. Since this is the case it only makes sense that Christie confirmed that she would in fact be returning to the franchise.

Christie, before confirming her return, went on to discuss what is like filming and being in a Star Wars film by saying:

“I was very over excited. I made no secret of the fact that I really campaigned for the part for a long time. And then I was delighted when J.J. Abrams wanted to have me in the film and then wanted to cast me in this role that had originally been designed for a man.”

Christie also talked about the popular Phasma chrome trooper armor as well:

“I thought the costume was incredibly striking. I also just liked this notion of a female stormtrooper. I felt it encouraged diversity and it was doing something new and it was an interesting bit of casting for women, and I hope that in something that was such a mainstream success it would breed more of those kind of opportunities for other women.”

And finally she confirms her return by saying:

“I will be in the next Star Wars movie. I think that’s an exclusive, actually.”
