Greetings Bro Nation! Who is excited for the Point Break revival? Ok so I harken to say that a decent number of our readers might not be old enough to have actually seen or know much about the 1991 cult classic. To give the younger generation a rough idea of what exactly Point Break is about, basically the first Fast and The Furious is a shot for shot rip off of Point Break. essentially if you guys want to see the original Furious movie, then check it out.
The original has reached cult status so it’s hard to imagine a remake of it. Point Break might not be the greatest movie, but it holds a special place in the hearts of the Bro Knows family. It’s a movie I watched as a kid, and it was just a ton of fun on screen. Starring Keanu Reeves as Johnny Utah (Paul Walker’s Brian), Patrick Swayze as Bodhi (Vin Diesel’s Dom), and Lori Petty as Tyler (Jordana Brewster’s Mia), Point Break was an action packed heist style movie.
This week Warner Brothers dropped some info on the official reboot. Releasing some footage from the film and a bunch of new images, but still no trailer as of yet. The remake will star Luke Bracey as Utah and Edgar Ramirez as Bodhi. Below are some of the images release via Collider.com.
There has been a lot of negativity surrounding the reboot, and a lot of people asking why? Bro Knows asks, why not? There has actually been some good news coming off the set, a lot of cool locations being used, and some retooling of the original story. The scale has been upped for the the film, making for a much bigger feel than the original. The images are all looking very nice, and Point Break is the type of film that can benefit from a modernization of sorts.
Heres the official synopsis for the new Point Break reboot:
In Alcon Entertainment’s fast-paced, high-adrenaline action thriller “Point Break,” a young FBI agent, Johnny Utah (Luke Bracey), infiltrates a cunning team of thrill seeking elite athletes, led by the charismatic Bodhi (Edgar Ramirez). The athletes are suspected of carrying out a string of staggering crimes that kill innocent people and send the world’s economy into a tailspin.
Deep undercover, and with his life in imminent danger, Utah strives to prove they are the callous architects of these inconceivable crimes.
The film is replete with the most daring athleticism ever seen in a motion picture. These action adventure feats are performed by extreme athletes representing the world’s best in class in big-wave surfing, wingsuit flying, sheer-face snowboarding, free rock climbing, and high-speed motorcycling.
What do you guys think Bro Nation? You excited for the reboot? Anybody out there that has seen the original? What do you guys think of the images and cast so far? Drop a comment and let’s start a discussion.
