The longstanding debate to whether it is a little smiling dookie, or some chocolate ice cream has been settled. Its poop. Now that we have an emoji movie coming, which we are 90% sure is a sign of the apocalypse, it stands to reason the little smiling pile of excrement is going to be heavily featured–for better or worse. Which brings us to the revelation, the great Patrick Stewart, a man whose presence looms so large he can cast a shadow over any production, is officially the sh*t emoji. Well he’s voicing the thing at least. One can’t help but think that this poor man has either lost a bet, or has completely sold out and taken a fat payday for some booth work (my money is on the latter).
Sony pictures has taken to twitter to announce the voice cast for the film, and the studio that profited off of Angry Birds is now using little phone icons that annoy on a daily basis to “entertain” us on the big screen. The first trailer for the film already hit the web not long ago, with a feature trailer sure to follow in the coming weeks. It will be interesting to see how the finished product turns out, but for now our headline is–Patrick Stewart is the sh*t emoji… Let that sink in.
The Emoji Movie stars T.J. Miller as Gene, an unfiltered energetic emoji, Maya Rudolph as Smiler and also features the voice talent of Steven Wright, Jennifer Coolidge, Jake T. Austin, James Corden, and Ilana Glazer. Look for the animated movie on August 4th!
