Spoiler Alert!! Possible Spoilers for Thor Ragnarok ahead!!!
Thor Ragnarok, is one of the Marvel films that seem to be most shrouded in secrecy. There is very little known regarding the plot specifics and the characters to this point. What we do know is that it will be loosely based on the Comic Book run of the same title. What we also know is that The Hulk will be involved in the story, though it is still unclear as to how pivotal his role will truly be. One of the big rumors was that Cate Blanchett would be joining the cast in a potentially villainous role. Well there may have been some light being shed regarding just who Blanchett might actually be playing.
For those who may not know. Ragnarok is referential to the Norse apocalypse, and the rising of dead spirits. In Avengers Age of Ultron, the side plot scene of Thor’s vision quest seems to be lining up with this storyline, as he visits the realm of Hel, which is where the dead spirits reside. The ruler of Hel is Hela, which is who Blanchett is rumored to potentially be.
Geek.com reports that Blanchett is in fact playing the ruler of the afterworld Hela, per the report which states “Hela will make it to Asgard, where she’ll be in cahoots with Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, current motives unknown.”
The idea of Blanchett playing such an impressive and powerful character seems fitting. Compound that with the report that she will be teaming up with Loki, this seems like the best possible scenario for the film, which is why the report seems so plausible.
The report does continue to provide further details regarding the plot of the film citing the following:
“Hela and Loki will have set their plan well in motion by the time Thor gets wise to what’s going on. Hela ends up creating the incident to Thor’s journey in the film. According to our sources, when Thor confronts Hela, things do not go well.”
Additionally to the above, how the inciting argument does not go well is also outlined. Not only does Hela banish Thor from Asgard, but she finds a way to destroy Mjolnir, Thor’s mighty hammer. This is some heavy stuff, which explains why they recently brought in a new writer to help “lighten the mood of the film.”
If all of this is completely accurate it will be interesting to see just how The Hulk fits in, and how Thor will rebound from the destruction of the relic from which he draws a bulk of his power. Sufficed to say, this promises to be the perfect follow up to Civil War, providing plenty of action and incorporating new talent to up the ante.
