The Star Wars prequels were some of the most disappointing pieces of garbage cinema in the history of filmmaking. That said, perhaps the only redeeming quality of those films was the performance of Ewan McGregor as a young Obi-Wan Kenobi. McGregor got to make a small cameo in The Force Awakens, lending his voice to the flashback sequence Rae experiences when she touches Luke’s lightsaber. So it’s logical that we may see him pop up in one of the remaining films, or even perhaps an Obi-Wan anthology movie, that updates us on what exactly he was doing in the time between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. Recently Collider’s Frosty Weintraub met up with McGregor at the press junket for his upcoming film Miles Ahead and asked him about the possibility of returning to the Star Wars universe to which he replied with a pretty emphatic yes, saying that he really believes that there is a lot of story to be told in that 30 year stretch from Sith to Hope. When asked if he was in talks to make an appearance in a Star Wars episode, or anthology Mcgregor played coy and simply advised he was not at liberty to say.
In other Star Wars related awesomeness, recently Adam Driver was caught up to at a screening for his new movie Midnight Special and was asked about working with Episode 8 director Rian Johnson, to which Driver went on to discuss the subtle differences between Johnson and Abrams. He also gave props to JJ for creating the aesthetic for which the rest of the directors can build upon and said of Johnson that “he’s very approachable and smart, and he’s created a fantastic script.”
Lastly in a world far far away.. The Force Awakens is coming to Blu Ray! There will be plenty of bonus goodness involved with lot’s of great special features and Abrams has already said that Daisy Ridley’s audition tape will be included. The Blu Ray drops this coming Tuesday April 5th!
