Trailer Spotlight: Crimson Peak

cp There is seemingly no greater news than that of Guillermo Del Toro announcing a new project. The man is a genius, and his movies are always inventive and creative. So when it was announced that his new creation Crimson Peak was in production it was music to our ears. Taking on a gothic romance motif in a mid century setting, it’s the perfect atmosphere for chills. Coming off of two successful films in Pacific Rim, which just announced it’s sequel, and the terrifying Mama, Del Toro’s most recent project has all the makings for an enthralling fright fest.

The cast here is stellar, with Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty, Mama), Tom Hiddleston (Loki in Thor, Avengers) and Mia Wasikowska (Alice In Wonderland), talent is not in short order. Chastain appears to playing the off-putting sister to Hiddleston’s charismatic leading man. Wasikowska appears to be the unwitting protagonist dragged into some kind of sinister plot involving a very disturbing setting. The mansion featured in the trailers that resides on top of a blood red colored mountain of clay, is the stuff of nightmares. We even get a glimpse of Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy) as Wasikowska’s childhood friend.

The trailers reveals several story lines and allows us to soak in the tone of the film, while providing us with some truly ghastly and terrifying images. Also included is a look into the characters and various potential motives and interactions. Crimson Peak is slated to be released October 16th this year. Check out the two new trailers!!
