Trailer Spotlight: Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them

While the Music Television Movie Awards (MTV Movie Awards) is the only award show that is a bigger joke than the golden globes (and perhaps on par with the razzies), it did still have some larger than life moments to share. One of the biggest came in a surprise move to launch the first trailer for the Harry Potter universe film Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. Eddie Redmayne, in wizardly fashion, appeared on stage at the faux award show to reveal the first full trailer for a film that has many a Potter fan intrigued.

Directed by David Yates, this new magical film is also the first one scripted by Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling, with Oscar-winning actor Eddie Redmayne playing the wizard Newt Scamander. The trailer is a lot of fun, and the voice over and appearance of Colin Farrell is pretty spectacular, as he seems to be the film’s antagonist. While we have no real inkling into the story as of yet the trailer gave us some pretty cool images, a familiar score, and our first look at some of the stars as they step into to the magical world of witchcraft and wizardry, all while chasing some fantastical beasties to boot. This trailer certainly ratchets up the excitement for an already intriguing project.

Here is the official synopsis for the film via WB

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures.  Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident…were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.
