Trailer Spotlight: Steve Jobs

Jobs

Alright Bro Nation! For those that actually watched the Ashton Kutcher led Jobs, I’m sorry that you had to go through that. It wasn’t exactly Shakespearean. Kutcher seems like a great guy, but isn’t exactly what you’d call a great actor. So Jobs was not very good. That means that the biopics for the legendary Apple founder would die right? Wrong! Sony announced last year that they were putting into production a biopic of their own. Originally Christian Bale was set to star in the title role, but then he dropped out. There were a few snags and missteps to overcome throughout production, but it seems they righted the ship and the film started to roll.

It’s no secret that Steve jobs is an iconic and historic figure. He was the fuel to the Apple fire and without him we wouldn’t have ipods and iphones and a slew of other gadgets with the letter i before the name. It’s nice to see this man get the proper treatment. With a screenplay by Aaron Sorkin and a leading man like Michael Fassbender, this film is set up for success and may be a potential oscar contender if done the right way.

Good news is the first teaser trailer has dropped for the film and it gives us a quick look at Fassbender as the title character. It’s just a teaser so it certainly doesn’t give much, but it’ still exciting none the less.

Here’s the logline!

Set backstage at three iconic product launches and ending in 1998 with the unveiling of the iMac, the film takes us behind the scenes of the digital revolution to paint an intimate portrait of the brilliant man at its epicenter.

The cast includes: Michael Fassbender, Jeff Daniels, Seth Rogen, Kate Winslet, Katherine Waterston, Sarah Snook, and Michael Stuhlbarg. The film is Directed by Danny Boyle (127 Hours, Slumdog Millionaire).

It’s just a teaser, so it’s tough to ascertain much from such a short clip, but damn that was cool. It looks like an oscar film just from the small clip. Fassbender looks remarkably like the real thing and seeing Jeff Daniels is always a good sign. Even Seth Rogen looks great next to Fassbender! This teaser makes the hairs on the back of necks stand at attention. It is everything we could have hoped for and more.

Steve Jobs is definitely one of the most anticipated films of the year, and will certainly garner a lot of attention during award season. This doesn’t just have the potential to be one of the best movies of the year, but also to be one of the best biopics of all time. Jobs is a charismatic and enigmatic man that is one of the great geniuses of our time. Let’s hope we can do him some justice in this film.

So what do you guys out in Bro Nation think of the teaser? Are you excited for the upcoming Steve jobs? What do you think of the cast? Drop a comment and let’s start a discussion.
