The latest trailer for the next installment in the Fast and Furious franchise has dropped, and it offers a more extensive look at some of the insanity we can expect from this movie, which has pretty much abandoned any semblance of realism it may have once had. While we understand the base plot, there is still a whole bunch of confusion as to how Vin Diesel’s Dom became aligned with Charlize Theron’s villain, pitting him against his family and friends.
The trailer is fine, it’s what we’ve come to expect form the this franchise, bombastic and bold, visceral action, with little development. It’s all about the overblown theatrics and manipulative emotional sentiments. Even with all the ridiculousness, This franchise is electric, and completely balls to the wall entertaining. The poor choice of title not withstanding, there is still a lot to be excited about here. The Rock and Jason Statham look to have bigger roles, Charlize Theron is pretty talented, F. Gary Gray is an incredible director, and if this trailer is the barometer, this movie is the height of absurdity in action.
The Fate and The Furious also stars Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Helen Mirren, Nathalie Emmanuel, Elsa Ptaky, Scott Eastwood, and Kurt Russell, and opens in theaters on April 14th.
