Comic-Con had a whole lot of offerings this past year, one of which was an exclusive first look to Luc Besson’s upcoming Valerian. The film adaptation the classic comic series, this is has all the makings of a greatness, akin to The Fifth Element, which is what made Besson famous. The cast is solid, although there has to be some concern surrounding Cara Delevingne after her awkward snake charmer dancing in Suicide Squad.

Ok so this looks pretty vibrant, and the music is terrific, but there is the opportunity for CGI overload. Nothing is real in this trailer. Not even convinced thats the actual Dane Dehaan, might just be this weird quasi mo-cap version of the actor. Even with that said, it still looks great. The action and the set pieces all look impressive, which is no shock if you’re familiar with Besson’s work. Difficult to discern what exactly is going on in terms of narrative, this is just a teaser of sorts meant to display the awe-inspiring visual template that is sure to fry your brain in epic IMAX 3D. The creature all look pretty cool, so this is a buy on the trailer. Looking forward to gaining some additional understanding about the actual story, for now this will do.. For Now.
