The trailer for the new Emilia Clarke led film, Voice From The Stone has hit the web, and its gothic romanticism seem to be a thin veil, masking the darker secrets beneath the surface. The trailer is pretty creepy, with a supremely ominous atmosphere and some clearly nefarious undertones. Clarke looks to be steeping into something new, and Martin Csokas is always intimidating. Any story that focusses in creepy little kids tends to be pretty terrifying, and so this seems to deliver on that front as well.

Clarke has done well to solidify herself as an action goddess, with her roles in Game of Thrones and Terminator Jenny Rice, and while the beginning of this trailer resembles her last feature, Me Before You, this would be her first foray into real horror. The backdrop of the Italian countryside mixed with the massive stone cottage is serenely beautiful, and chilling just the same. Voice From The Stone premiers April 28th to limited release and simultaneous VOD. Check out the synopsis below:

VOICE FROM THE STONE is the haunting story of Verena (Clarke), a solemn nurse drawn to aid a young boy named Jakob who has fallen silent since the untimely death of his mother nearly a year ago. Living with his father (Csokas) in a massive stone manor in Tuscany, Jakob not only refuses to speak, he seems to be under the spell of a malevolent force trapped within the stone walls. As Verena’s relationship with the father and son grow, she becomes ensnared and consumed by Malvina’s severe force. If she is to save the boy, and free herself, she must face the phantom hidden inside the stone.
