If there is one film, that had not been greenlit yet, that had more fan support than a proposed Batman stand alone, directed by Affleck, I don’t know what it is. Fans have been clamoring for Warner Bros to add a Batman stand alone film, then we received the word that Affleck has already written a draft. Then we hear all about how Zack Snyder wants to see Affleck take on the Dark Knight. Well now we have some solid concrete updates surrounding movement on the Batman front. At Cinemacon this past weekend, Warner Bros pictures president Kevin Tsujihara announced that there were ten DC films on the slate over the next 5 years and also stated “We are excited to be working with Ben Affleck on a standalone Batman film.”

So now we have confirmation that there is going to be a Batman film sometime in the next 5 years. We do not have any confirmation on whether or not he will be directing said film. That said it sort of seems like a given. There is no question WB wants to see Affleck direct, and Snyder has hinted at that happening. Meanwhile Affleck is currently working on his latest effort Live By Night, which wrapped principal photography recently, and is now in post. The hope is that after Justice League wraps Affleck will turn his attention to Batman, and we will have a film in 2018. While that may be wishful thinking, the fans are calling for it, and Warners has the ability to make it happen by backing up the truck of money to Affleck’s front lawn.

So what do you guys think of the news surrounding the Batman standalone? Are you excited for a Batman movie? Drop a comment and let us know what you think.
